About Me

Clint Albano

I’m a native speaker of English. Arabic is my second language. I worked as a project manager or general manager for 3 different private companies in Saudi Arabia, The Sultanate of Oman and Egypt for a total of 38 years (1982-2020).  Getting through to the correct meaning of Arabic texts was crucial in my work.

So by necessity I:

  • Became familiar, from daily work, with Arabic general meanings and technical terms from accounting, legal, and government documents.
  • Learned specialized words and expressions, and their variations from country to country, for heavy machinery, construction, agriculture, irrigation, manufacturing processes, and civil works
  • Translated from Arabic to English, very often by myself, tender documents dealing with purchases and projects.
  • Learned much about the culture, customs and folkways, business practices, legal practices and government procedures of the Arab world from living – 38 years –  in three different Arab countries.  I also visited, multiple times on business,  10 additional Arab countries.
  • Learned to speak Modern Standard Arabic, while also mixing it with Egyptian, Levantine, and Gulf dialects when appropriate.
